Since starting the research on our project, we have learned a lot about the topic of bedside reporting. Before starting our research, we all suspected that bedside reporting would improve the patient’s satisfaction as well as the nurses. This turned out to be true once we started conducting the research. We found that in care settings that implemented the process of bedside reporting, there was in fact an increase in the patient’s own involvement in their care and less uncertainty around it as well. They are able to hear in real-time how they are doing and may even be able to input information to the nurses as well. This also was known to increase the nurse and patient’s relationship. This was also beneficial to the nurses because they were able to see the patient while they were getting report, which does not usually occur during normal change of shift reports.
Our topic did not need to be revised throughout the process of this project. The topic of bedside reporting yielded lots of results and that we were able to use for our proposal. I will be able to use this as a future nurse and I think that it will be beneficial to us. After looking at this research, I think that it has helped me to gain a better understanding of the process. I will try to implement this into my future career because this seems to be a practice that is not super common, but can easily be applied with time and practice.
Overall, I think that our team has been working well together. We get all of our work done in a timely manner and it is submitted on time as well. We did have a few problems with submitting the final proposal. I think that this was due to miscommunication. We submitted the wrong version into Brightspace, which ended up causing a few hiccups, but we were able to work them out by communicating with each other and figuring out new ways to work together in the future.
