Nursing Module Reflections

In the first nursing module, Testing and Remediation, we learned a lot about test taking strategies. This information was very helpful to me, as I learned new ways to better take my exams. One of the strategies that they taught us was to put a “+” sign next to an answer that we thought was correct, a “-” sign next to one that was wrong and a “?” next to one that we are not sure about. I like this way of taking my exams because it seems to be a better way of going through the answers than just crossing them off. This module also talked about strategies for taking the NCLEX. They gave us ten different strategies/helpful hints on taking this exam, and I found them to be really helpful. I get very nervous during exams, and like to know what I am getting in to, and these hints helped me to better understand what is expected of me during this exam.

In the second nursing module, Nursing Concepts, there was a lot of topics that were discussed. One of the more important concepts that I learned a lot from was the safety section. Keeping patients safe is one of the most important parts of being a nurse. This section talked a lot about ways to improve safety and how a lot of injuries occur, such as fall risks. Client-centered care was also another section in the module that I found important and learned a lot from. This section discussed a lot about the client and their needs and wants. As a nurse, making sure the client is comfortable and getting the attention that they need, is very important. Their personal and cultural preferences are also very important for the nurses to know. The drills in this section and the first one were very helpful to me. After listening to talking for over an hour, it was nice for me to be able to practice the skills that I just learned about. It really helped me to get all that information into my brain and prove that I learned it!

Lexi, it was a bit difficult to read your reflections because the font doesn’t provide enough contrast. Still, overall, very nice work! I am glad you learned some new hints to help reduce your anxiety prior to taking a test! I am also pleased to see how you have internalized the importance of patient safety.

You also did a great job reflecting on the differences between the beginner student nurse and one more advanced….nicely done! Next time, feel free to post module 3 & 4 together.
