Preparing for Transition

  1. What am I most excited about?
  2. How will I celebrate
  3. What am I most anxious about?
  4. How will I prepare and plan my weekly study to stay focused and on track (remember, SMART goals)?
    – Specific (simple, sensible, significant).
    – Measurable (meaningful, motivating).
    – Achievable (agreed, attainable).
    – Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).
    – Time bound (time-based, time limited, timely, time-sensitive).
  5. What did I learn from the ATI Nurse Logic 2.0 Modules that will support my success on the ATI
    assessments and NCLEX-RN?

I am most excited about finally being completed with school. I also am excited to be able to enter the workforce. I have enjoyed the times that we are able to go to clinical and I especially enjoyed preceptorship. I thought that was a good experience and I learned a lot. I am also excited to be able to work with patients more often. I like that aspect of nursing and look forward to being able to do so.

I will celebrate finishing school with my friends. We have decided that we are going to travel after graduation, depending on how the travel regulations are with COVID. We all want to be able to have one last time where we are able to be “care-free” and have fun before we enter the real world and get jobs. I will also be celebrating with my family by having gatherings, as another one of my family members is graduating from college too, so we will celebrate together.

I am most anxious being out in the “real world”. I have been in school since I was 5 and there has been a structure that I have followed for a long time regarding school. I think that this is going to be a big transition for me, not being in school anymore. I am also anxious about going into the workforce during a pandemic. Healthcare is not the best right now and it is short staffed everywhere. I am worried that COVID is going to be extremely stressful and overwhelming and that burnout will occur sooner in us new graduates.

My weekly study schedule will be determined using many different tactics. One of the tactics I will use is the SMART goals. These help to make sure I have goals that I am using my time wisely and that I am spending an appropriate amount of time studying. I will use the SMART goals to determine goals that are appropriate for the work-load for each of my classes but also giving me time for self-care, as that is also just as important.

I think that the Nurse Logic Modules in ATI were very helpful in the aspect that they gave us questions based on topics that are important to know as nurses such as priority setting. These are important for us to learn because they teach us the strategies that are needed in order to answer these questions while taking exams. I think that these were very helpful in order for us to prepare for the ATI assessments and the NCLEX.
