- Throughout the semester we took many ATI exams in order to help us to prepare for the NCLEX. After taking these exams we would receive individual performance profiles for the specific exam that we had taken. I always made sure to look at these after I had completed my exams because they showed you the skills that you needed to improve on. A lot of the categories that I needed to improve on were the management of care and pharmacological and parenteral therapy sections. I always tend to read through my exams too quickly and not read the questions well. These also showed you your rank within the class and nationally too which is nice because it can see how you have to improve for other exams.
- I think that the remediations that we had to do for this class helped me to understand the content gaps that I had on the information I did not know. Doing the remediations forced me to sit down and go through the topics that I answered incorrectly and had to read through the specific parts and find out what the correct answer was, as well as why the one you chose was not correct.
- I would say that I have adopted a good amount of self-care strategies throughout the semester. I felt that I became better at managing my time not only when taking exams, but with my workload as well. Before this semester I felt like I would go too quickly on my exams and this would cause me to not read the questions throughout and try to figure out what the correct answer was. I found that because we would have so many of the ATI’s, I found ways to take my time and find better ways to manage my time with the workload from this class and other classes. I also made sure to take time for self-care. I get lost in the amount of work that I have a lot of the time and I made sure to not do that. I made sure to take breaks, hang out with my friends or exercise in order to keep my mental health in check as well.
- I think that the information I have learned in this class has helped me tremendously in preparing for my licensure and work life after graduation. This class has helped me to develop a better understanding of the nursing curriculum we have been taught the last two years. I would also say that my critical thinking has improved over the course of this year alone and a lot of that has to do with the ATI’s that we have taken this year.
